Created in 1972 by the union of the old Provincial Museum of Fine Arts (1913) and the Provincial Archaeological Museum (1945), the current Museum of Malaga is one of the 63 Spanish museums of state ownership and autonomous management, in this case transferred to the Junta de Andalucía.
